The ISIS Challenge 2012
At Brentford Lock & Syon Park - Saturday August 11th 2012
-CHALLENGE YOURSELF IN 2012-
- 1km Paddleboard Time Trial (event day-tuition supplied)
- 5km Run (choose one or both events)
- Open to ages 8 to adult - all abilities welcome
- Followed by a FREE Family Funday at The Great Conservatory, Syon Park
To celebrate our 25th year as a community organisation, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust invites you to take part in the inaugural ISIS Challenge 2012.
The ISIS Challenge comprises of a 1km paddleboard time trial on Brentford Lock followed by a 5km run in the grounds of Syon Park.
Participants have the choice of taking part in both the paddleboarding and run or just the run! The event will be complimented by a FREE fun-day for competitors, family and friends in the grounds of Syon Park’s Great Conservatory, with food, licensed bar, music and screens to watch the penultimate day of the London 2012 Olympics.
The fun day will also include opportunities to try out kayaking, paddleboarding, multi-sport activities and fun inflatables for children. Don’t worry if you have never tried paddleboarding, as we will provide basic event day tuition. We can also offer optional pre-event training.
We have created a number of categories to involve everybody. Prizes will be awarded for all categories including individuals, families, and group/corporate teams. All participants will receive a competitor memento of the day.

Brentford Boating Arch
Brentford Boating Arch (BBA) has been providing water sport lessons (canoe and kayaking) and development training programmes to schools, youth and community groups since 2007. Based in Hounslow beneath Kew Bridge, BBA operates under the Adventure Activities Licensing Service (AALS) ensuring that all activities follow strict safety practices. In 2011 the facility was fully refurbished with changing rooms, toilets, showers, boat and equipment storage, a small classroom and fitted kitchen.
Brentford Boating Arch also offers a social programme including child, youth, adult and family paddles. BBA also caters for participants with learning and physical disabilities, whilst our purpose built katakanus cater for children with more complex needs, making the waterways accessible to all.
Our courses present paddlers with challenges ensuring they learn a variety of new skills and abilities. We offer a number of routes for progression including Sea Kayaking with EDGE Progressive Paddling and whitewater trips with West London White Water - a specialist white water paddling group.
In 2013, Brentford Boating Arch will be offering stand-up paddle boarding courses in partnership. Paddle boarding is the fastest growing water sport in the UK, enabling the participant to experience the water from a uniquely different perspective.
